To touch a Sphynx ...is like stroking warm velvet, do this and you will instantly be rewarded with a strange alienlike sound, something, quite indescribable, and and a whimsical stare, to die for. Their favorite games appear to be games of fetch and they love to learn new tricks all the time.
They are often referred to as "hairless" but nothing could be further from the truth. They are covered in a silky soft peach-like down. They absolutely adore humans and will lean over backwards, to get your attention. Beware! when you call their name, as they will come bolting right at you from way down at the back fence of your home, tail wagging wildly! No kidding, ask any Sphynx owner. They are also very talkative and twitter and chirp whenever you are close at hand and will keep you amused and laughing at their mischievous antics. They have an adorable and affectionate way of touching with both of their paws while kissing you at the same time.
Elizabeth Swart from Dysal Sphynx Cattery once said: "They unlock your heart and touch your soul."
Our Sphynxes of today, originate from some hairless kittens born in the 60's and 70's from normal coated Canadian and American cats.
